HI, I’M BELINDA!
I have chosen to be bold and try out new things, the joy and pleasure that I experience currently is beyond my greatest dreams!
Every piece I find has a story behind it and so much of my time is spent with the actual people who are parting with their life-long treasures often due to illness or death in the family. It can be sad and sometimes very emotional, but somehow I hope that when I leave with their treasures, they trust that I will find the right person for each piece. I consider myself to be the custodian of these truly timeless treasures and it is a privilege indeed!
There is a story behind every piece of furniture and collectible, and by dealing with people and not acquiring piles of stock at auctions, I have the pleasure of carrying on the story and legacy of my finds.
We buy and sell French, Antique, Vintage sometimes fairly new pieces. Admittedly my true love is Mid-Century furniture and anything Nautical!
I see the beauty in every imperfection and not all pieces can be restored to absolute perfection, however thanks to my talented and handsome husband, Bruce, he manages to transform just about anything!
We share a passion for life and find pleasure in the small things.
HI, I’M BRUCE!
My passion for woodwork stemmed from wanting to re-engineer myself, out of corporate life and generate an opportunity that would keep me focused and gainfully occupied for another 15 years, or so!
I’m a man of few words, thankfully I’m not paid to talk anymore. Now I can immerse myself in my projects and sawdust, restoring and bringing life back to Antique and Vintage furniture, whilst listening to LP’s and the sound of my favorite sanding machine.
I strive to give our clients the best version of the pieces we find, not to mention your very own heirlooms that we restore.
Over the past two years, I have spent endless hours learning skills from Oom Dries (sadly deceased) and re-engineering myself to learn skills that others have learned over a lifetime but are no longer offered to the public. I endure and never give up, as the final result is always worth all the lost man hours and physical labour.
I choose to sand the wood myself, the smell of the wood, brings back forgotten images of the past owners and craftsmanship long forgotten. At the end of the day, working in the sun and covered in sawdust, it would be easier to get someone else to do it, but then the passion would be lost.
The joy I experience when a family heirloom is returned to its owners, imperfect but perfect, makes it all worthwhile.
